Most of us don’t pay too much attention to what’s under our feet on the street. If you start looking, you might see some interesting, fun, and beautiful patterns. It seems that people in the past spent more time and money on ornamentation of the built environment. These days though you can sometimes find examples of how either the requirement to spend a certain % of the building budget on art or simply a building owner/ town/ city appreciation for art have resulted in some fun surprises under your feet. I took these two photos of a storm sewer grate in Copenhagen (Denmark) and a manhole cover in Toronto (Canada) – Enjoy:)
